Changi Food Centre

The Changi Market in Changi Village is alive with foodies in the weekend. Although it is very much a quiet ghost town, the market is packed with campers, beach bums, residents, and those who flock there for Seafood and good cheap hawker fare. Bringing my girls there certainly reveals lots of complaints because the place is very stuffy and has no airconditioning. They are so used to the shopping malls lifestyle and sleep and play in aircond comfort for most part of their lives, they do make lots of noise when we decide to bring them to places like that. But what to do, mom and dad loves to order these yummy hawker fare so they just have to bear with it.

Your can find accomodation in Changi Village available, such as chalets nearby, walk up flats, Changi Village hotel (formerly Le Meridien Changi) for those who would like to live there for the weekend. It is also in close proximity to Changi Airport, Singapore Expo (for all conventions/exhibition) and also a little bus terminal too.

A rare scene of the idylic and quiet lifestyle in modern Singapore

In the weekends, Ah Boy and I love to bring the girls to the east end of Singapore. We like to go to Changi Village, a lot. Changi Village is like a sleepy town during the weekdays, but wakes up to fishing enthusiasts, bikers, foodies and of course campers. The wind in this area is just great. It is not as packed as East Coast and certainly more friendly and down to earth.

Usually after a meal at the stretch of coffeeshops, we would walk to the Changi jetty to watch some boats and let the kids just catch some sea breeze. Last Sunday was exactly what we did. Except that we started the day a little later so we went there for an afternoon stroll and had dinner at the nearby market.

Changi Coastline is a nice place to bring out your bicycles. In fact Singapore has the island all mapped out that if you are a enthusiastic cyclist, the cycle tracks can bring you to almost all parts of the island using park connectors.

Buildings in Singapore

Singapore is a modern city. Living here for 2 decades has seen alot of changes in the developments like buildings, architecture and the skyline. There are more buildings being added each day. Some are new ones that have sprung up in the past 10 years and looking unique. Although Singapore tries to retain some by conservation of original buildings though.

In town I saw some old flats that had been painted. Well, errmm I thought the colours were kinda garish. The colours didn't seemed to blend into the environment. In fact, it looked more like an eye sore. sheesh! Look at the shot I took.

Some of my friends who had seen the flats also voiced their similar views. There are so many nice looking buildings and structures in town. But this one looked terrible. I wish they'd just paint it in more natural colours than that primary colours, so raw. Sigh...

881 DVD is Finally Out!

I missed Joe's recent screening of the 881 at his Ustream yesterday since I didn't have a pc available. Latest news I also found out was that the DVD is out on sale. Costs $21.90 per dvd. Not that expensive, actually. This is a good buy and probably be my first hokkien show for keeps. The costume, choreagraphy and songs are really nice, much to my surprise. I applaud the way it is being produced and directed, very artistically and aesthetically fabulous. Even gawdy colours are actually being carefully paired and enhanced very beautifully here.

Untill I get my DVD, I shall just post one of the songs I found on YouTube here for you to enjoy.







For those of you who are musically inclined, you might like to look at this one below. I found this in YouTube too. This person did quite a good rendition of chord plucking. I remembered I did picked up guitar long time ago and wanted to specialise in chord plucking when I heard the song More than words. But alas, long story.. hahaha
