Cats and Fleas

My girls are still pestering me to get them a pet. It had been an ongoing affair. Each time when I thought they had long forgotten about it, they'd see someone walking a dog and there they go again. I had to remind them about the responsibilities about pets and how we are binded by taking care of it, it will be hard to go for holidays. Then they asked for a cat instead. I had to tell them that it makes no difference between a cat or a dog. In fact I had to convince them that cats do have fleas too. So they asked about flea control for cats and I really have no idea. I suppose it would be good to check up about how does one prevent or treat cats with fleas.
