We Have More Fishes!

I am so short of time today. I want to get lots of things prepared before I go on a trip this Sunday. I have to pack the girls' stuff, and of course my never ending emergency packs (I'll write about it one day), Ah Boy's clothes (he is so busy no time to pack), and my own personal things and things I want to get for my family. I also mustn't forget Lea's formula that she must have every morning and some snacks as our driving will take about 5 hours or more. Kids get cranky travelling for hours and I also need to get some DVDs for them to watch in the car.

This morning, my helper changed the water for the fish aquarium.. Seelah.. Ah Boy bought fishes and we have to do most of the job. sigh... Then somewhere in mid day, I was rushing some work, Sofiya told me, 'Maam... you got cucu (grandkids)'. I was kind of blur about what she meant.

My first reaction was did Lea bring another baby or neighbour toddler into our house again? Lea likes to invites toddlers into our house that she will lead all the way from the playground... and the parents and grandparents sure to follow one. I have to entertain strangers in our houses most of the time... sigh

So, that cucu Sofiya meant was actually baby fishes that the fish in the aquarium had just had the eggs hateched! Gosh, we only had the fish less than 2 weeks and these fishes are already breeding? Oh my! Look at the snapshots... it's true you know.. LOOK for yourself!

Looks like your "cucu" are Platies. They don't lay eggs. They're livebearer - their eggs hatched in their bodies and when the fry are ready..they leave the body of the mother. They breed like rabbits!

Wait till you see your "cucu" turns into a hardcore fish keeper like myself one day!! You can see what I mean by hardcore if you visit my blog :)

All the best with the "babies"

I forgot to mention that you may lose all the fry especially in a bare tank, eaten by the adults including the mother if you don't separate them quick. In a heavily planted tank they may escape from being made into breakfast/lunch/dinner/supper. In a bare tank, there is insufficient hiding place. Please make sure you use anti-chlorine or leave the water overnight for 24 hours to remove the chlorine. Otherwise, you will lose them all including the adults.
