How many of you remembers former Muay Thai champion, Nong Tum (Parinya Charoenphol). She scored victory and revived the interest in Muay Thai (Thai Kickboxing) sport in February 1998 when she defeated the muscular opponents at a young age of 16. Her public display as a Kathoey (male-to-female transgendered) created much reaction from the public and she appeared in many Thai music videos and in magazines as well. Her publicity wavered but her dreams to undergo a sex reassignment sugery was kept up all the time. By 1999, Nong Tum had retired from kickboxing with the intention to move into singing.

Her story is being related in this 2003 film, Beautiful Boxer. Directored by Ekachai Uekorngtham (an award winning theatre director) , this film has many national and international awards for its beautiful choreagraphy, artistically production of grace, aesthetics and its phenomenal performance by male kickboxer - Asanee Suwan.
